The Closing Seminars — Alumni Feature

Come September, we will host the Closing Seminars for the second cohort. Today’s post features an alumni of the first cohort, Miss PraiseGod Joseph on her experience regarding this final phase of the training programme.

PraiseGod begins by sharing a holistic approach of the closing seminars. “In the beginning, my take on the closing seminars was merely a sign of completion of the training programme and being awarded a certificate; but that is not all that the closing seminars offer. The closing seminars are a reflective journey of the fellows’ professional development with the guided assistance of PIL experts.”

It follows therefore that the best way to prepare for the closing seminars is by self-analysis of the objectives set at the start of the training programme. However, PraiseGod urges the fellows of the second cohort to also take note of the knowledge that they may not have expected to gain, but ended up learning, be it from the instructors or by peer to peer experience sharing with the other fellows.

Two key lessons that PraiseGod took from the closing seminars were that the drive of being a public interest litigant comes from within, an inherent willingness to do what is for the greater good of the public and lastly the strength of collective efforts towards a common goal. “Teamwork divides the task and multiplies the success.”

Thank you, and all the best always PraiseGod.
