Meet The Fellows
Neema Jaji, Tanzania
Neema Jaji is a lawyer and advocate from Tanzania with three years of experience in Public Interest Litigation. For her practicum, Neema is hosted at Legal and Human Rights Center (LHRC) — Arusha Branch where she attests her experience so far to have been a great one.
Working with the leading human rights organization in the country, I get an opportunity to meet with clients, victims and stakeholders of different kinds. Through this, I learn new skills everyday. — Neema Jaji.
For her project case, Neema is working to challenge the law of inheritance in Tanzania, focusing mainly on the right to equality for women and girls who seem to inherit less than their male counterparts. Through this case and many more she wishes to undertake, Neema hopes to touch people’s lives through Public Interest Litigation, ensuring that their rights are protected and promoted.
An interesting fact about Neema is her love for sleep. She prefers to sleep when she is not working that there was a time she slept for twelve (12) hours straight without waking up or turning in bed. (But how did she know she did not turn or even move a finger while she was sleeping? This is probably a story for another day!)
Well, Neema, we wish you all the best as you pursue your career and take on your interest in sleeping :)
